By creating an Ekié account or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use Ekié.
1. About Ekié
Ekié is a financial technology platform that provides digital savings circles (njangi), peer-to-peer loans, a community marketplace, and payment services. Ekié is operated by Ekié Inc., registered in the USA and Cameroon.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Ekié
- You must provide accurate and truthful information during registration
- You must have a valid phone number and access to mobile money or a payment method
- You must not use Ekié for illegal activities
3. Savings Circles
- Circle contributions are managed transparently by Ekié at no charge
- All members must contribute on time as agreed
- Late contributions attract a fee of 2,000 XAF
- Payout order is determined by the circle admin at creation
- Ekié is not responsible for disputes between circle members
- Ekié facilitates but does not guarantee payouts if members fail to contribute
4. Circle Loans
- Loans require approval from at least 70% of circle members
- Interest rate is 5% per month on reducing balance
- Loans can be cancelled within 3 hours of submission
- Loan repayment is added to monthly circle contribution
- Minimum credit score of 70/100 required to apply
- Default on a loan reduces credit score by 50 points
- Members with credit score 70-79 may borrow up to 50% of the pot
- Members with credit score 80+ may borrow up to 75% of the pot
5. Marketplace
- Ekié charges a 2% escrow fee on each marketplace transaction
- Payment is held by Ekié until the buyer confirms delivery
- Vendors must be verified with a valid National ID
- Vendors selling fake or prohibited products will be permanently banned
- Buyers have 48 hours after delivery to raise a dispute
- Ekié reserves the right to refund buyers in case of fraud
6. Fees Summary
- Circle savings: Free — no management fee
- Circle loans: 5% interest per month
- Late contribution fee: 2,000 XAF
- Marketplace escrow: 2% per transaction
- Diaspora transfers: 2% fee
- School fees processing: 2.5% fee
7. Account Security
- You are responsible for keeping your PIN confidential
- Never share your PIN with anyone — including Ekié staff
- Ekié will never ask for your PIN via phone, email, or WhatsApp
- Report unauthorized access immediately to hello@myekie.com
8. Prohibited Activities
- Using Ekié for money laundering or fraud
- Creating fake accounts or impersonating others
- Selling prohibited, counterfeit, or illegal products
- Attempting to hack or compromise the platform
- Sharing false information to obtain loans
9. Termination
Ekié reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Users may delete their accounts at any time through the app settings.
10. Limitation of Liability
Ekié is not liable for losses resulting from user error, network failures, or force majeure events. Our maximum liability is limited to the amount of the transaction in question.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Cameroon and the State of Kentucky, USA. Disputes shall be resolved through arbitration before litigation.
